The pear…Webster defines as “an edible fruit with a rounded base and a tapering stem end”. If you’ve been to one of my shows you have undoubtedly heard me say… “There is something about the pear that artists like to paint and people like to buy.” What is it about the pear that makes it such a succulent offering for the artist and consumer? And while no two fruits are ever alike such is the case with paintings… no two are ever exactly alike. I am always amazed when I hear remarks regarding paintings of famous places and scenes that “oh, I’ve seen that painting before”… well of course you have. There are only so many ways to paint the Arc de Triomphe or the Sacre Coeur. It would be impossible to determine why an artist chooses a particular subject matter but rest assured if you are interested in a signed, original oil or acrylic it is a work of art not to be exactly replicated ever, except through some sort of printing process. Enjoy!
